Teaching English in Korea Requirements

Scroll down to see if you meet the requirements for teaching English in Korea. Unfortunately, we can’t help those who don’t meet these strict requirements as laid out by the Korean Government.

  •  Native English Speaker

You must be a native English speaker from USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa. If you were not born and present in one of the above countries for the majority of your education then Korean immigration will not grant you a visa.

  • Bachelors Degree

You must have a full Bachelor’s degree earned in one of the above countries. Any major is fine as long as your degree is from an accredited University. Some Canadian Universities are not accepted if French is the predominant language of the institution.

  • Clean Background

You must have a clean criminal record check from your home country. For Americans, this must be a nationwide FBI check. Minor violations such as traffic offences may be accepted but things like DUI’s, drugs and social disorder are not.

  • Good Health

You must be in good physical and mental health and will be expected to fill out a self health assessment from before departure. Once you arrive in Korea you will undergo a basic physical to check for common health issues and if you are found to have any your visa can be terminated instantly.
